Flood Protection and Drainage Bylaw Review
Consultation has concluded
The Canterbury Regional Council Flood Protection and Drainage Bylaw 2013 has been reviewed and we are proposing some amendments which include:
Protection for the Wairewa/Little River Rating District (established after the 2013 Bylaw came into effect);
Amendments relating to vegetation covered by the Bylaw;
Amendments relating to the dumping or deposition of material within setback distances of drains and small watercourses;
Improvements to the clarity and workability of the Bylaw through wording amendments and the inclusion of advice notes and diagrams;
Update to the extent of flood protection and flood control assets and schemes identified in the maps; and
Amendments to the application form for Bylaw Authority.
Any person may share their views on the changes by making a submission on the Proposal. All responses will be considered by the Council when making decisions on the Bylaw.
Submissions closed on 2 July 2018.
The purpose of the Bylaw is to manage, regulate and protect flood protection and flood control works belonging to or under the control of the Canterbury Regional Council from damage or misuse. Click here for more information on the current Flood Protection and Drainage Bylaw 2013.
