Are there any changes to the Rapaki extension?

The present route 28 extends trips through to Rapaki, past Corsair Bay and Cass Bay, three times in the morning and again in the afternoon. A similar schedule will be part of the new Port to Port route.

What about the Lyttelton to Diamond Harbour ferry?

Metro runs the Diamond Harbour ferry with present Metrocard zone 3 fares of $4.70/adult and $2.60/child. The ferry is scheduled to meet the 28 bus at Lyttelton, continuing the journey into the city. The present schedule is planned to continue.

Lyttelton Port Company has future plans for the ferry terminal to be moved which may cause some change to schedules.

    Will my rates increase?

The proposed improvements are within the budget outlined in Environment Canterbury's current Long Term Plan, This includes budget for the extra low emission diesel buses that need to be purchased to cater for the increased frequencies.

If we purchase electric buses, this would incur a slight rates increase.
