A new 12-month Aranui bus trial has been approved by Council. We ran a survey in April to help us decide the destination. We asked if the bus from New Brighton each hour, should run between Eastgate Mall or The Palms Shopping Centre.
Following strong feedback from the community, it’s been confirmed that Aranui’s new trial bus service will run hourly between New Brighton and The Palms Shopping Centre.We received more than 870 submissions during the consultation – 64% of whom voted for The Palms.
The new trial service will be aligned with other services, allowing for easy connections to wider Christchurch, the city centre and Eastgate Mall. Our public transport team will work with the community to make sure they know where the bus stops are and how to then transfer to a connecting bus for free.
Staff are working with Christchurch City Council and Kinetic to finalise details for the new service, including its timetable and planned stops.
The 12-months trial service will begin later this year.
